Where do prenatal visits take place?
Depending on the set up of the practice, the prenatal visits may take place in the midwife’s office or in the client’s home. Our practice provides prenatal care in our office. Our birth assistant makes a home visit before the birth to assure the home and the supplies are ready for the birth. We (BirthCare midwives) occasionally do home visits if the mother is on bedrest. Some midwives do all home visits for prenatal care or do prenatal care in the office and schedule one home visit close to the time of the birth.
