Where do new illegal drugs get their names from? Like Ice?

Drugs get their nicknames in casual conversation to sound innocent to an unsuspecting eavesdropper. Most drug names get their names as form of encryption when talking about them in public while minimizing suspicion due to their double meaning. However our law enforcement inevitably finds out those names as they arrest drug dealers and puts them in their intelligence briefings and then the names become mainstreamed as flyer’s or handouts are given out to parents warning of their possible nicknames that one can confuse with then everyone knows about them. So drug dealers and users endlessly come up with new names for their drugs to encrypt their meaning. For example when marijuana is called 420, the number 420 spoken in casual conversation would sound completely innocent as it can mean 420 dollars 420 miles etc. but as soon as dealers are arrested the police find out about the nickname 420 and then sends flyer’s to parents warning to watch their kids if they talk about 420 in certain way
