Upgrades may be purchased during Online Flight Check-In when you are traveling within the U.S., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. If you are traveling between the U.S. and Central America or between the U.S. and the Caribbean, you can only purchase the required 500-mile upgrades at the airport Self-Service machine or with an AA airport agent during check-in. Upgrades purchased via AA.com or Self-Service machines are offered at a discounted price.
