Upgrades may be purchased during flight check-in on AA.com when you are traveling within the 50 U.S., the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. If you are traveling between the U.S. and Central America or between the U.S. and the Caribbean, you can only purchase the required 500-mile upgrades at the airport Self-Service machine or via an AA airport agent during check-in. Upgrades purchased via AA.com or at the Self-Service machine are offered at a discounted price.
