Where do I go for further information on Web page design and accessibility?
• The above tips cover much of what’s needed, but the full compliment of techniques is much larger. For example, tables can be a real help if laid out well, but a serious hindrance if done poorly. • The UIC Office of Disability Services has prepared a Web page that has additional information on all the topics discussed in this section, info on how to test your Web pages for accessibility (and why you should), and links to further information: Designing Accessible Web Pages. • If you have particular questions about making your Web pages accessible for persons with disabilities, please contact Joy Hyzny, who is an Adaptive Technology Specialist in the Office of Disability Services.
• Web accessiblity is such an important consideration that UIC has a UIC Accessibility Reference Guide, which has a list and samples of what to do and what not to do. Please check it out. • The ARG (Accessibility Reference Guide) is part of the Web Accessiblity at UIC Web site, which has, among other things, tools and templates. • For additional support or to suggest other resources, please send an email to the Web Accessibility Committee at accessweb@uic.edu.
