Believe it or not, your first post did go thru, so you sent 2 posts saying the same thing, but anyway, depending on whether it’s “in-state” or “out-of-state” interest, those would be the grids in Screen 11 where you enter it. Presumably the 1099 came with some backup info so that you know where the tax-exempt interest came from. If it’s clearly one bond, or one fund with a state name that makes it obvious the investment is totally within a particular state, it probably goes in the “in-state” box (unless the taxpayer used to live in NY, say, and had NY bonds, and still has them, but now lives in PA). If the investment is one of those multi-state funds like Dreyfus Tax-Exempt Bond Fund, they might have provided a separate sheet that tells you how much is invested in the client’s state, and how much in Guam, Puerto Rico and possibly other such places that count as “super states.” In such an event, you’d put the total amount received in the “total muni-interest” grid, and the in-state amou
