To adjust the temperature on a Monterey, Sonoma, or similar auto defrost cabinet, locate the thermostat on the outside in the rear of the cabinet on each refrigerator. The thermostat is covered by a 3 1/2″ x 5″ metal box. A 1″ hole is provided to access the brass shaft on the thermostat. When viewed from above, turning the thermostat clockwise will lower the temperature and a counterclockwise turn will raise the temperature. USE SMALL ADJUSTMENTS! A 1/16 rotation will raise or lower the air temperature approximately 3 degrees F. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to grasp the shaft and turn it the proper direction. If necessary, easier access can be obtained by unplugging the refrigerator and removing the three screws that hold the black coils to the rear of the refrigerator. Gently and slightly pull the rear coils away from the rear of the refrigerator and remove the thermostat cover plate.
