Where do hummingbirds sleep at night?
After a feeding frenzy at dusk to take in as much nutrition as possible to get them through the night, they perch and go into what’s known as a torpor. A torpor is a state of reduced physiological activity induced by lower night temperatures, that serves to conserve energy for small creatures like hummingbirds. Warm morning temperatures bring the hummingbirds out of this state.
