Where do green frogs live?
Green Frogs are pretty adaptable and can be found in lots of different environments. They are highly aquatic so access to water is a must! Ponds, lakes, wetlands and slow-moving rivers are great places for this species. In Canada, Green Frogs are native to Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. Although not native to British Columbia and Newfoundland, they have been introduced there and may pose a threat to other native frogs in these areas. In Ontario NCC’s work is protecting Green Frogs in many areas, including the Carden Alvar, the Lower Maitland River Valley and the Frontenac Arch. What do Green Frogs eat? Green Frogs aren’t picky eaters. They eat all sorts of insects and other invertebrates (animals without backbones). They may even munch on other frogs and small snakes.
