Where do e-mail scams originate?

0

Although they are commonly thought to originate overseas internet scams originate anywhere and everywhere. Even in the US its not uncommon for someone to set up an operation on a webhosting server that is in some third-world country that the authorities would have a hard time locating. They set up shop overseas and use the operation to filter the money that they scam from you and then collect for themselves unscathed. I think that we have all seen some sort of scam where the author of the email pretends to be your ISP or some other company that most people deal with asking for your credit card info. There is nothing new under the sun. Email has just been a new tool for fooling people in recent years. Before that a scam artist had to be a really convincing fast talking swindler. Now the scammer can do it from the safety and anonymity of his bedroom.
