Where do coffee beans come from?
The Coffee Bean is the seed of the coffee plant, which originated from Ethiopia in the Southwest province of Keffa. The name ‘coffee’ is derived from the name of a bird there called the “ceffi” by the natives. Surprisingly, the name ‘bean’ is not botanically accurate since the coffee plant is not a member of the Fabaceae [pea or bean] family, nor does it come from a pod.
