Where do bands like Slipknot and Hollywood Undead get their masks from?
Masks for those bands are custom made at this point. Once bands get funding and start performing heavily, they need well made durable masks that fit properly. There are plenty of costume designers, makeup artists, and props masters who make masks for movies and performers. When a band like this starts out, most people involved can’t spend that kind of money on a mask. So the first few versions are undoubtedly home-made from materials on hand. If you know an artist or art student who is willing to learn to work with mask materials, you can get something like this made up or learn to do it yourself. My guess would be that most of the Slipknot masks started out as halloween masks that got reworked. A lot of it is trial and error, so have your mask done well in advance of whatever event you’re using it for. There should be more info lurking somewhere on the internet about the Slipknot masks.
