Where do “african american” names come from?
I think Lebron is weirder than John and Henry, because the latter names have been around for quite some time, and the former name and similar names seem to have appeared out of nowhere. Mind you, that im from Finland, so im basing this just on sports stars names and other black celebrities. Black athletes were named Jack Robinson, Henry Aaron, Joe Louis, Wilt Chamberlain etc. and nowadays many prominent black athletes have names like Lebron James, Shaquille O’Neal, which are names that seem like they have popped out of nowhere. And that is what im trying to find out; where did these names originate from, as there dont seem to be people with those kind of names in any other time or place in history. Maybe i should send an email to some professor that knows about black history, as i honestly am intrigued…..
