Where did the traditions of hanukkah come from?
Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the success of the Jewish rebellion against the Greek, Hellenist Syrian empire, some 2300 years ago, which eventually removed the Greek from Jerusalem and later became a Jewish kingdom over most of the land of Israel, Jordan and the southern parts of Syria today, that lasted until conquered by the Romans.
