Where did the term Pigeon Grade start for shot guns?
Answer Paul, I can only answer from a Browning prospective and I don’t know this to be fact. With that said, Pigeon Grade for Browning simply has pigeon game scenes engraved into the side of the rec’r. The engraving though fantastic, is not as intricate as the Dianna Grade, Midas or Pointer grade Brownings. The difference is just that, less engraving than the higher grades, but more than the standard grade. Very few if any pigeon grade Brownings were ever signed or initialed by the engraver as opposed to the other grades where most were signed by the engraver. Price is a big difference also. You can probably add 25%-35% for each higher grade over a Pigeon Grade. Hope this helps.
