Where did the inspiration come from for the big “Midnight Train to Georgia” number this season?
McBrayer: That’s a good question! I don’t know where they came up with that. That was fun to do. That was the episode we were able to shoot after the strike actually began, because it was a completed script – we just couldn’t do any changes or have any writers on the floor with us. So it was unique in that sense. Plus, we didn’t know if we were coming back. There were so many unanswered questions there, so it was fun to just do this huge musical number apropos of nothing.
