Where did the idea for Riley’s Middle East medical mission trips come from?
This is an important mission that was born from the Riley Hospital for Children and Rotary International’s Gift of Life program, which began in 1998 as an initiative to bring children from other nations who were in need of heart surgery but did not have access to life-saving care to Riley Hospital for Children. Since that time, Riley, in conjunction with Rotary, has performed surgeries on 44 children spanning the globe including China, Pakistan, Jamaica, Ecuador, Africa, Honduras, Haiti, the Philippines, Afghanistan and Iraq.
