Where did the germ of the idea come from for Rock The Soap?
Bob Guiney: Actually, I can’t take all the credit. Hal Roseman and Seth Shomes originally came up with the concept. I had brought in Seth to book my band, Band From TV. He also handles a lot of celebrity clientele, stars like Kevin Costner and Bruce Willis. I told them about how much I loved hosting Super Soap Weekend, and how much the soap actors loved being treated like rock stars. Immediately they begun brainstorming and came up with the soap cruise idea. I helped with coming up with idea of exploiting soap stars’ other talents, like singing and writing books. I wanted stars who didn’t normally do fan events, the sweets of daytime. Thankfully, a lot of press-shy friends like All My Children’s Thorsten Kaye [Zach] and Michael E. Knight [Tad] agreed to attend. Kaye is about to release a children’s book, so he helped inspire my idea of giving fans’ exclusives on the boat that they couldn’t find elsewhere. TVGC: Did you come up with the idea because ABC recently cancelled Super Soap Wee
