Where did the French Revolution take place?

The French Revolution, as the name implies, took place in France, but it caused a lot of unease across the Channel in Britain. An overthrow of a monarchy virtually on their doorstep, coupled with the radical ideas espoused by extremists, caused many citizens to fear for their own lives and property, and led, in the end, to a form of patriotism that wanted nothing so much as the status quo, with everyone knowing his or her place in the world (read ‘social strata,’ if you will) and to be content with what God had ordained. Interestingly enough, the American Revolution didn’t seem to have as much impact on the average British subject as the French Revolution did. I suppose it’s a lot easier to feel less threatened by a revolution taking place several thousand miles away, with an ocean between, than one practically next door, with only a nineteen-mile gap.

The only place the French Revolution happened was in France. However, in approximately the same time, multiple other countries were having Revolutions of their own throughout the world. Britain is the only one that had a peaceful turnover of power by it’s monarchy to become a democratic nation. That’s why they still don’t have a written constitution.
