Where did the Easter Rabbit come from??
Eggs are representative of spring as life from the dead of winter (represented by the shell). They were decorated for the benefit of the children. The rabbit came from Germany as an ancient symbol of fertility which was celebrated during the pagan spring festivals. The church adopted the egg as a symbol of Jesus resurrection and the Easter bunny just tagged along to make it entertaining for the children. German immigrants brought the Easter bunny tale to America just as Dutch immigrants brought us Santa Claus.
