The timing couldn’t be better, say company officials, who report that sales for the first three months of 2002 were 40 percent higher than in any comparable period in the footwear company’s 11-year history. Because of increased demand, Dansko has doubled its staff to 55. The privately held company declined to release actual sales figures. “The growth has been staggering,” said Catherine Byers, a Dansko spokeswoman. “Having the new building is almost like giving our employees a vacation.
