Where did the afterlife in Egyptian religion originate?

When Osiris the Pharaoh was killed by his brother Seth. Seth then had Osiris’s body dismembered and scattered all throughout the world. Osiris’s wife Isis reclaimed all of his parts except for his penis. Anyway Isis had Osiris’s body put back together by wrapping it in linen/cloth. That’s how mummification began and Osiris’s dead body is always shown as green because he is dead and since he was brought back to life by this process he became king of the underworld/afterlife. Mummification is a way to carry on into the afterlife. They never burn the body because their “Ka” aka soul needs to come back and claim it. That’s just an educated guess though.
