Where did slavery start?

It was a barbaric practice and should never have been brought to here by the Europeans as an attempt to run the plantations. But it was certainly not a practice that was started here. Slavery was also active in Europe while it was going on here, but Europeans did away with the practice about the same time the Northern states were abolishing the practice. Only the Southern states refused to give it up, believing that it was the only way to run the plantations.
