Where did religion originate and should superstitious beliefs (religion) play a role in politics?
Religion arose from increasing human cause/effect thinking. It was a pre-scientific attempt to explain phenomena in the natural world. This led to many correlation disasters, such as when virgin sacrifice correlated with increased crop yields, thereby increasing virgin sacrifice when higher crop yields were needed. It was later used to control the behaviors of members of societies, which was abused by the leaders to maintain their grip on undeserved power. Therefore, religion and politics should be separate.
