Where did Reiki originate from?
Mikao Usui developed the system of energy healing we call Usui Reiki. Mikao Usui received Reiki through spiritual realization. Usui studied kiko, the Japanese version of qigong, which is a health and healing discipline based on the development and use of life energy. He went on to study in Japan, China and Europe, and legend says he spontaneously received the knowledge that is Reiki during meditation practice on Mt. Kurama. In 1914 Usui’s personal and business life was failing, so he decided to travel to this holy mountain, for a twenty-one-day retreat. It was during meditation that the Reiki energy entered his crown chakra.
