Most scholars and researchers agree that the origin of Karate-do, as we Know it today, came from Kerala in South India through a Martial Art form called “KALARYPYATT.It was taken to China by a Buddhist Monk known as “BHOOI DHARIVIA” during 50QAD. In China, he founded the Shaolin Monastery, where it was changed to the term “Wu-Shu” or Chinese Martial Arts From the 10th Century onwards, when trade developed between China and Japan, it was allowed to do so only through the island of Okinawa. Thus the Chinese Ambassadors and Emissaries, started teaching the people of Okinawa the techniques of ‘Wu-Shu” which was later changed to ‘KARATE”.
