After the Army, Michael worked for Central Texas College in Killeen at their satellite campus in Germany as its chief financial and administrative officer. There for eight years, he helped support its European campuses. Michael then went into the newspaper industry and was the chief financial officer of the San Antonio Light, which was later purchased by Hearst Newspapers, the owner of the San Antonio Express-News. After the Light, Michael was the publisher of the San Antonio Business Journal for two years. Michael has been an entrepreneur by starting three businesses. He owned and ran four retail mail and parcel centers. He eventually sold that company and also created Positive I.D., which captured bio-metric data to identify children if they are lost or abducted.
