where did candy canes originate?
According to Wikipedia, the candy cane actually began as a white candy stick! While it wasn’t very specific, I did get the impression they started in Europe. The hook, or cane, is said to be created by a choirmaster in Germany. The theory is that he was trying to emulate a shepherds crook. Maybe this is why it has become a common sweet during the holiday season.
