Where did Abraham Lincoln live during the war of northern agression?

Lincoln divided his time between the Executive Mansion (usually referred to as “the White House”) and the Soldier’s Home. This was in the northern suburbs of the Federal District, and was the only form of retirement from the service (which was why Winfield Scott was still in uniform after 53 years of service). Lincoln felt comfortable there. Someone tried to shoot Lincoln as he returned downtown, alone, from one of his stays at the Soldier’s Home, putting a round through his hat. According to the Official Records, published by the US government – the “O. R.”, cited in any book about the war pretending to any historical accuracy, it is actually “The Official Records of the War of the Rebellion”. Civil War is what its often referred to as, though this is a misnomer, because a civil war is where two groups contend for control of one country.

It was only called the War of Northern Aggression in Virginia in 1964. The name never caught on. Most everyone calls it the American Civil War. Some good guys and bad guys on both sides. One side won; one lost. President Lincoln lived in the White House at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
