Where could a career in public sector audit lead me?
Once you’ve passed your accountancy exams, your career opportunities are vast. Within KPMG’s Public Sector Audit practice, you may have scope to develop particular sector skills or get more involved in our associated public sector advisory practice. The potential benefit of public sector audit is the variety of work and the scope to do a wide range of assignments for lots of different clients. You may, however, wish to consider some of the other options open to you at this stage, which include: • working within a different KPMG function – e.g. KPMG’s Public Sector Advisory, Corporate Finance or Transaction Services practices – all of which work on projects for public sector bodies • working abroad for a period of time on secondment at one of the member firms from across KPMG’s global network • moving outside KPMG into a role such as business analyst or financial controller in the public sector – for, say, a hospital trust or local authority.
