Where can women get medical care around issues of pregnancy and sexual health needs?
A. Planned Parenthood of New York City operates three clinics—located in Manhattan, the Bronx and Brooklyn—which offer gynecological examinations, birth control, pregnancy tests, abortion services, prenatal care, sexually transmitted disease testing and treatment, and HIV/AIDS testing and counseling. The Brooklyn and Bronx clinics charge a sliding-scale fee for all services except abortions. Fees range from nothing to full price, depending upon the patient’s financial situation and the type of service. Patients who are uninsured or under-insured will need to bring proof of income, such as tax returns or pay stubs. The Manhattan clinic does not have a sliding-scale program, but will refer patients to the Brooklyn and Bronx clinics as necessary. Patients are seen by appointment only.
