Where can teens and preteens go to get Advice?
There are many ways to get advice and information about sex, puberty, STD’s, pregnancy, or other health issues. One of the best ways is to talk to someone you trust, such as a parent, older, brother or sister, family member, neighbor, teacher, doctor, nurse, or religious leader. Be sure to ask someone you know will give you reliable information. If you can’t think of anyone you know to ask, or feel too uncomfortable to talk to someone you know, there are hotlines to call where you don’t have to give your name or any personal information. You can listen to recorded information without having to talk to anybody. Look in the phone book for local hotlines. You may be able to find information in pamphlets, newsletters or brochures in a nurse or doctor’s office, in a school, clinic, or a hospital. You can go to the library and find books that will help you understand issues that affect teenagers. Many services are confidential, so if you ask for information, they will not ask for your name,
