Where can one invest a small amount [$1000.00] of money in a no load index fund?

I have looked at Fidelity and Vanguard, but their minimum investments are $1500.00. I also looked at ShareBuilders.com, amd DirectInvest, but want more websites to look at before I make a decision. There must be other places for small investors to start investing their money.
