Santee contracts with two Permanent Household Hazardous Waste Collection facilities to accept residents’ hazardous waste for free. Proof of residency (current driver’s license or utility bill) is required. The two facilities are: • Waste Management in El Cajon (avg. 10 min. drive from Santee) Open second and forth Saturdays by appointment only. Residents must call Waste Management at (619) 596-5100 for an appointment and directions. • City of Poway (avg. 20 min. drive from Santee) Open most Saturdays 9:00AM to 3:00PM. No appointment necessary. Call (858) 668-4710 for recorded message including driving directions. Loads should not weigh more than 125 pounds or 15 gallons. No explosives, medical waste or business waste* is accepted at either site.
