The earliest commercials consisted of an animated dancing female cigar, singing I’m today’s new Muriel, the fine cigars… Often this spot included her male counterpart and a child cigar. Then in the early 1960s Edie Adams became the face of the Muriel Cigar with her provocative May West come on, “Hey big spender, spend a little dime on me”. Later Edie hosted her own series sponsored by Muriel Cigars called “Here’s Edie”. The position of the Muriel Cigar girl was later taken over by fashion model Susan Anton in the 1970s.
