Fargo fire crews responded to the call at 4441 Oakcreek Drive S. at about 11:47 p.m. Friday. The owners, Franklin and Shelly Neal, were awakened by a smoke detector. They heard crackling sounds coming from the attic and saw smoke coming from the roof vents. Crews found fire in a canopy area above the front entry. The fire had started in a column and moved up into the attic of the two-story residence. The fire was under control at about 12:10 a.m. Saturday. Firefighters re-mained on scene until Saturday morning. No injuries were caused by the fire. There was charring to the structure of the entry and moderate damage in the attic. Damage is estimated at $10,000. ——
