Where can I purchase electrolytes?
Electrolytes are just MINERALS- zinc, magnesium, sodium, chloride, potassium. So, all you really need to do is buy a good, multi-mineral supplement from your local, health-food store! If the supplement does not contain salt (sodium chloride) then you can always sprinkle a little table salt on your food. If you are an athlete who sweats a lot then it is really critical to replace those minerals.
Electrolytes are just ions that your body requires for cell function. Mainly, they are sodium(salt) and potassium. By eating foods that contain salt and potassium, you will obtain them. Potassium can be found in foods such as bananas, apricots, potatoes, and many other fruits and vegetables. You shouldn’t need to “purchase” electrolytes in any way other than eating a normal, healthy diet, but if you are severely dehydrated or have been on a starvation diet than you may need a quick fix of them. Gatorade or other sport drinks have sodium and potassium.
