You can get a decent Brinkmann bullet smoker from Home Depot or Wal-Mart for anywhere from 30-50 bucks. The best bullet smoker would in my opinion be the Weber Smokey Mountain for around 150 dollars. There are quite a few competition BBQers that use this unit. I use a smoker with a firebox, another indirect cooking method. If you use this kind you better enjoy playing with fire because so many variables can affect your temps. For a beginner I would recommend a bullet type smoker. I think the temps on a bullet smoker will range too high for brisket without making any modifications. They are excellent for ribs, chicken, turkey & smaller cuts of beef, pork or lamb though.
