Where can I learn some simple Chinese phrases?
Hi Pran, I know you’re hard working but let me tell you something… It’s not as easy as you think to learn the Chinese language… Trust me coz I’m a Chinese myself. You must have a good (many years of) foundations. And you HAVE to learn & remember Chinese Characters, that’s the most difficult part… You MUST know alittle history, literature, culture, mythology, etc… You must learn some set phrase (idioms) coz many are commonly used. I give you an example, “Eating Vinegar” means “Jealousy”. There’s a story behinds this phrase and if you literally thought one is gonna consume vinegar? Then you’re getting no where… However… simple daily Chinese Phrase is definitely possible. Ni Hao (Nee How) – means How Are You? Chi Fan Le Mei You (Che Fan Ler May Yoh) – means Have You Taken Your Rice? Well, the second phrase above is very important to all Chinese bcoz Chinese Culture is all about eating.
