An *excellent* book for learning and understanding the notes on the guitar, how they relate to one another, and then begin diving into a bit of basic theory, check out the Musician’s Institute Guitar Fretboard Workbook: http://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Fretboard-W… This book will start you out with the basics – learning all the notes on the fretboard – then take you SO much further. It will be one of the most useful books you ever use.
