Where can I learn more about special education services and programs for children with ASD?
There are several resources regarding the special education programs and services for students with disabilities, including those with ASD. Information about the special education process for all students with disabilities can be found in the document titled, Special Education in New York State for Children Ages 3–21: A Parent’s Guide. The Autism Program Quality Indicators (APQI) includes a series of research- based quality indicators of instructional programs for children with autism that have been linked to high quality and effective educational programs for students with autism. The items on the APQI were derived from a variety of sources including a review of the scientific literature, professional experience and input and review by national experts in the field of autism.
