The Dubai Municipality (DM) has granted a license to use the strip of beach between the University of Wollongong and Umm Suqeim Clinic, known to the kitesurfing community and the Dubai Kite Beach (or Wolly Beach to those from Down Under). DM inspectors conduct regular inspections of all people kitesurfing, and request presentation of their membership card. Anyone not a member of the DKC is subject to a heavy fine or confiscation of their equipment.
