• Ask yourself these questions as you read books, surf the web, talk with friends and family, attend classes, and talk with the healthcare professionals you are in contact with during your pregnancy: • What is the background of the speaker, author or website? Content offered will reflect their perspective • Is the information current? Check publication dates, when sites were last updated or the references cited or consider when it was that they were parenting. Older references are less likely to reflect current information • Does the content reflect what’s happening where you live? What you read or hear about may not be in practice in your town, province or country • Does the information fit with your life, beliefs and values? Not everything you hear or read will “fit” with who you are and what you want to be as a parent. Find a few current resources that you trust • Your healthcare provider or childbirth educator can answer questions you have about the things you read or hear. They ma
