Where can I get to listen to a cockney accent??
A true cockney is supposed to have been born within hearing distance of the Bow Bells in London, therefore you are most likely to hear a real cockney accent in the vacinity of St Mary-Le-Bow Church in the City of London. Incase you are not British the City of London is infact only 1 mile square and is in the east end of the much larger area we generally refer to as London, which is infact made up of several other citys i.e Westminster, Chelsea, Kensington etc. St Mary-Le-Bow Church is just off Cheapside which is near Bank underground station. The Bow Bells were distroyed in WW2 and were not replaced until 1961, so offically there were no cockneys born in London for 20 years. Good luck finding a true cockney I lived in London for 15 years the last 5 of which in the east end, I have only ever met 1 true cockney. As for a website im afriad I have no idea.
