Where can I get skewers (wooden or metal – for microwave) in Pune?
Don’t know where you are, but I do know that you want non-metal skewers in a microwave. They’re fairly commonly available, usually bamboo. If you have a mature Rosemary plant, sometimes Rosemary twigs are recommended, especially if you’re doing lamb kebabs. There may be some wood that is poisounous, but not most. The trick is to soak the wooden skewers for a good half hour in water before skewering the food and putting it on the grill. I find that a wine bottle filled with water works great for this. Stopper the bottle with a cork to keep the skewers from floating up out of the water.
