Where can I get rid of used oil, old paint and wood stain?
A. La Salle County homeowners will be able to dispose of used oil and antifreeze in late August. La Salle County’s Environmental Services and Land Use Office and the La Salle County Soil and Water Conservation District are planning a collection from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday Aug. 21, at the district’s location, 1691 N. 31st Road, Ottawa, said Vicki Heath, the district’s resource conservationist. Participants will need to take their containers with them, Heath said. She noted the collection will be limited to only oil and antifreeze. Oil filters will not be accepted. Prior to that, La Salle County residents and schools will be able to drop off many electronic items for recycling Saturday, June 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the La Salle County Governmental Complex in Ottawa, 707 E.
