Where can I get information about substance abuse consumption rates and related risk and protective factors and consequences?
The Department of Children and Families Substance Abuse Program, Prevention Unit publishes several reports that provide important information for state and local prevention planning. The Department has administered the Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey to middle and high school youth annually since 2000. This survey measures consumption rates on over a dozen drug categories and 21 risk and protective factors, in addition to other unhealthy or delinquent behaviors. State reports are published every year. In even years, we survey enough middle and high school students in each county to publish county reports. Reports of current and past surveys can be found on the DCF Substance Abuse Program web site. The Substance Abuse Program also coordinates the State Substance Abuse Epidemiology Workgroup (SEW).
