Where can I get donated breastmilk for my child?

It would be dangerous to buy breastmilk from someone because you don’t know what kind of health problems they might have. Breast milk is a bodily fluid, and it’s also affected by what the mother eats. Also, if she has a cracked nipple, you could be feeding your baby some of her blood. If you can’t breastfeed (and don’t feel terrible about it, some of us just can’t do it), be glad that formula is so safe and readily available to us. I tried to breastfeed and didn’t make any milk…they said it would come in but we kept trying and it never did. Finally, they said I couldn’t take her home from the hospital until she was peeing normally (she was peeing orange crystals because she was dehydrated) and I had to give her formula. Given a choice between formula and starvation, formula is not a bad thing at all.
