The CD you have is the boot disk, but it won’t boot your installed XP (and it won’t start to reinstall XP either). If the computer won’t boot from the hard drive, you’ll need to do more than boot with an XP CD – you need something that will boot the partition that you have XP installed on. Search for boot disk and see what your options are (there are many – like installing Grub on a floppy, flash drive or CD).
