For non designer frames the opticians have a bit of a mark up, but online there are some good deals. For designer frames the branded companies supply at a huge price and so there is not much mark up and if the optician discounts the frame to make minimal profit, but try to survive by supplying quantity, the designer company refuses to supply the frames as they want to maintain a premium market price. You also have to be aware that if you buy cheap frames they don’t last long. My mum used to buy off the shelf ready readers for £5 and they lasted a couple of months, then she paid £20 pounds for a pair and they lasted 2 years. Well worth the price in the end.
